Matthew Stephen Chabe writes novels, short stories, and nonfiction.

His work has appeared in The Coachella Review, Body Fluids, Slippery Elm, Euphony Journal, Pennsylvania English, Backpacker, PopMatters.com, History, Sailing, Appalachia Mountain Journal, Boston Herald, and more. In 2023, his short story “The Last Ride of Amarillo Slim” was chosen to appear in Voices de la Luna’s fifteenth-anniversary retrospective. His debut novel, An Endless Setting Sun, is currently seeking representation.

He is the former managing editor of Bangor Metro magazine and a former senior editor of the Bangor Daily News. A native of Bangor, Maine, he now spends his time abroad.
